Jason E. Smith pays tribute to Fredric Jameson for L.A. Prime, a new reading series hosted by Rosie Stockton and Chloe Watlington, at Apogee's offices in the Westin Bonaventure.

Smith is the former Chair of the Graduate Art MFA program at ArtCenter College of Design and the author of Smart Machines and Service Work: Automation in an Age of Stagnation (2020). His writing and research are largely concerned with contemporary art and aesthetics, modern continental philosophy (Spinoza, Hegel, 20th century), and post-1968 political thought (primarily French and Italian). He has published in Artforum, Critical Inquiry, Parrhesia, Radical Philosophy, South Atlantic Quarterly and Theory&Event, among other places.
